Dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of this unique and ancient breed
Our breeding program for Icelandic Sheepdogs is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of this unique and ancient breed. Our primary goal is to maintain the integrity of the breed while also striving for improvement in health, temperament, and conformation. We understand the importance of adhering to breed standards, not only to preserve the distinct characteristics that make the Icelandic Sheepdog special but also to ensure that each generation is healthier and better adapted to its environment.
Through meticulous selection of breeding pairs, we focus on genetic diversity, which is crucial for the long-term vitality of the breed. We evaluate each dog for physical health, behavioral traits, and adherence to the breed’s historical characteristics. This careful approach helps us avoid common genetic disorders and maintain the robust health that is a hallmark of the Icelandic Sheepdog. Our commitment extends beyond just the physical attributes; we are equally invested in nurturing the natural herding instincts and affectionate temperament that have made this breed a beloved companion and working dog since the times of the Vikings.
By combining traditional breeding knowledge with modern genetic insights, we aim to contribute positively to the future of the Icelandic Sheepdog. Our goal is not just to preserve the breed as it is today but to enhance it, ensuring that future generations are even more resilient, well-balanced, and true to their heritage. This balanced approach allows us to honor the past while paving the way for a thriving future for the Icelandic Sheepdog.
Our kennel is named in honor of Luke, an extraordinary Icelandic Sheepdog who holds a special place in our hearts. Luke was more than just a remarkable dog; he was the embodiment of our vision and the catalyst that brought Loren’s dreams to life. His achievements speak to the excellence we strive for in our breeding program. Luke’s legacy includes twice being named Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, an accomplishment that showcases his superior conformation and adherence to breed standards. Additionally, his PAX title in agility and PT title in herding demonstrate the versatility and intelligence that are core to the Icelandic Sheepdog breed.
Luke’s success in the show ring, agility course, and herding field reflects the well-rounded nature of the dogs we aim to produce. His legacy is a guiding light for our kennel, inspiring us to continue breeding dogs that excel not only in appearance but also in ability and temperament. Luke’s influence ensures that our breeding program remains rooted in a deep respect for the breed’s history while also pushing the boundaries of what these incredible dogs can achieve. Through our careful and dedicated breeding practices, we strive to honor Luke’s memory by producing future champions who will continue to make dreams come true.
